Obituary of Eleonora Galera

Peacefully, with her loving sons by her side, at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, on Sunday, November 27, 2022 Eleonora Galera (Marzio) of London, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Salvatore Galera (2008).  Devoted and loving mother of Vincent (Ruth Anne) and Frank (Alice). Much loved grandmother of Ryan, Richard, Willow, Joshua, Charlie and great grandchildren Julius, James, Lily and Mason.  Survived by her brother Vincenzo (Tina). 

Predeceased by her father Domenico (1978), mother Veneranda (Bernardo) (1984), her sister Tina (Staropoli), brothers Giovanni, Virgilio, Vittorio, Elia, her son Richard (1977), her daughter Tina (2018) and her great grandson Braxis (2007).

Eleonora immigrated to London, Ontario from region of Curinga Calabria, Italy.   As a young lady, she was trained as a seamstress and owned and operated both restaurant and tailoring businesses. Eleonora also had a very enjoyable career at London Health Sciences Centre - Victoria Hospital in which she developed many long term  friendships. She will be sadly missed by her family, cousins, nieces, friends from Canada and Italy whose lives she touched.

We would like to thank staff and her fellow residents at Mount Hope - Marion Villa wing for their compassion. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London on Thursday December 1,  from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street on Friday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. Prayers Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
