The Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada announce the peaceful death of Sister Genevieve Anne Cloutier at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Road, London Ontario on Friday August 19th, 2022.
Marie Theresa Cloutier was born on June 15, 1925, in Windsor Ontario and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on August 25, 1949. She is remembered fondly by her CSJ sisters and her many nephews and nieces.
Sister Genevieve Anne is predeceased by her parents Albert Cloutier and Annie Janisse, sisters Irene (Tony) Ouellette, Rita (Pete) Dugal, Margaret (Warren) Beemer and Genevieve (Yvon) Litalien.
Sister Genevieve Anne began her life of service as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. Moving to the convent in Delhi, she worked as a homemaker and then returned to London where she was appointed laundry supervisor at Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse and supervisor of the students’ cafeteria at Mount St. Joseph Academy. This was followed by 7 years as supervisor of the laundry at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. In 1968, she transitioned to occupational therapy working in several locations: Ignatia Hall, London, General Hospital, Killam and CSJ Regional House, Edmonton. Sister Genevieve Anne returned to London in 1988, and assisted with occupational therapy, switchboard and sacristan responsibilities.
Sister Genevieve Anne loved beauty and the creative arts. She was skilled at sewing, knitting and needlepoint, and generously shared her creations with community and family. Sister Genevieve Anne lived into her final years with graced surrender and took comfort in the love of friends, family visits, nature, prayer, and solitude.
All services will be held at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 485 Windermere Road, London, Ontario. Visitation will be Monday August 22nd, 2022, from 2:30 – 4:30pm, and from 7:00 – 8:00pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday August 23rd , at 11:00am, with Father John Comiskey presiding, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London, Ontario.

Please note visitors are required to show proof of triple vaccination and a piece of photo identification when being screened at Reception. Visitors will also be given a Rapid Antigen Test and must wait 15 minutes before proceeding into the Residence. Masks are required.
