My dad was born in Dublin Ireland in 1935 and came out to Canada in 1957.
He had never experienced such cold Canadian winters and I don't think he ever got used to that.
He met my mother- the love of his life- Mary Evelyn in Toronto and they got married June 29, 1963 and were fortunate to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 2013.
My dad was an avid pigeon racer since childhood.
He also loved Formula One Racing.
As a young man in Ireland my dad was a soccer player and almost made it to the big leagues but an injury changed the course of his life.
My dad played soccer for the Toronto Irish and won the Campbell Cup one year.
He also played soccer for various house leagues of the companies he worked for.
My dad was referred to as Jack and he was a "jack of all trades"
He could do anything and fix anything and he did.
My dad had various jobs including Eaton's Delivery Driver, TTC Bus Driver, Fitter Welder, and maintenance mechanic. All of which he excelled at.
To me my dad was literally the 6 million dollar Man- the Bionic Man - they had rebuilt him.
My dad had various surgeries and medical procedures over the years including facial reconstruction, rotator cuff surgery and hip replacement.
My dad had a great heart and was good to his family.
He never let us down and we could count on him.
Even though time had aged him he still retained his sense of humor and sharp wit.
He was an exceptional human being and will be greatly missed.
He loved and was loved.
My dad was my hero and I did everything I could for him.
I was honored to be my dad's caregiver and I value the precious time I spent with him ❤
