Obituary of John Reed Webb

At Westmount Gardens Long Term Care Home on Friday, April 8, 2022, in his 77th year of life. John "Reed" Webb fell asleep in death. Beloved husband of the late Carolyn Anne Webb with whom he shared 47 years of unconditional love. Loved son of the late Lorne and Elizabeth Webb, and son in law of the late Roy Franklin Webb and “Banter Buddy” to Mildred “Min-Ball, Speed-Ball, Moth-Ball” Webb. Treasured father to Paul (Nicole) Webb, and Heather (Tim) Gracey. Cherished grandfather of Emma, Leah, Hana, and Myah Webb.

Reed was proud of his academic and employment achievements, having completed 4 years of Business school and receiving his Business Degree with Honours. Reed was a dedicated sports fan who spent many hours playing baseball and football with his children, always encouraging them to strive for their goals. He also had an appreciation for a variety of flavourful foods and shared his family's passion for music and games. Having grown up on a farm, he adored animals, especially dogs, and found comfort in their company. Much like his mother, birds had a special place in his heart, and he often enjoyed listening to their singing outside on warm summer days. In his lifetime, he experienced both mental and physical illness that was often debilitating and difficult to navigate. Through it all he persevered and was not defined by his diagnosis. He was strong, caring, compassionate, brave, and beautiful. His smile could light up a room and he never missed an opportunity to show his loved ones how much he appreciated them. Now he has found peace and eternal rest. To all those who knew him and stuck by him throughout the years, he greatly valued your loyal friendship and was so thankful to have you in his life.

Bipolar was something you had, not something you were.

True love never fails.

It is patient and kind.

It bears all things, believes all things,

hopes all things, endures all things.

Love Never Fails.

(1 Corinthians 13:7,8)

Now that the time has come that we can't be together, we will keep you in our hearts, you will stay there forever. Until we meet again.

Our hearts are overflowing with love and gratitude for all the amazing staff at Westmount Gardens Long Term Care. Our Dad’s daily life was made more enjoyable because of you. For 10 years you provided him with all the care he needed to live a quality life and allowed us to enjoy our time with  him. Because of you, we will never forget the last few days of his life this week. The individual love, respect, kindness, compassion and friendship that was extended by you, to our dad and us during this most difficult time was beyond what words can express. To those in attendance for Reeds “Epic Purple Rain Honour Guard”, we thank you. Reed would have loved it! A private Family Celebration of Life will follow. If desiered, memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Humane Society of London & Middlesex, or Canadian Mental Health Association would be greatly appreciated.
