Obituary of June Martha Morton

June Martha Morton (nee Ritchie)

June Morton, born February 19, 1930, passed away peacefully in London on March 12, 2022

June was married to her late husband Jim Morton in 1949 and they enjoyed life together for over 60 years of marriage.

Survived by and will be sorely missed by her children Tom (Suzanne), Jeff (Patti) and Lori, Grandchildren Jackie (James) Mather, Nikki (Brian) Nourse, Tim (Jessica) Morton, Dan (Samantha) Morton and her Great Grandchildren Charlotte, Wyatt, Emma, Nolan, Anna, James, Paige and Elliot. Predeceased by son Jimmy, parents Samuel and Margaret Ritchie and siblings Edward, Mary, Phyllis and Isabel.

Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, June and Jim moved to Ancaster in 1952 where Jim built the family home.  The family moved to Kitchener in 1967 before coming to Burlington in 1972.

June was very smart having skipped two grades at school.  She always wanted her family to work hard, be honest and happy.

Mom’s interests included gardening where she and Jim won several City of Burlington Rose Garden awards for their beautiful property on Harris Cr.  June was an avid curler, bridge player, quilter and knitter.  Mom was a season ticket holder for her beloved Ticats for over 25 years.  The closest she came to cussing was participating in an “Argos Suck” cheer.

June was an active member at Knox Presbyterian Church and got great pleasure being part of the Knox group.

Although Mom’s health declined over the past 4 years, she always remained positive and happy.

Service for June takes place Saturday March 19 at 2 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian, 461 Elizabeth St. Burlington.  Please note masks and proof of vaccination are required to attend the service.   Following the service a reception will take place at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church, 461 Elizabeth Street, Burlington, ON L7R 4 B1.
