Passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 2, 2021 in his 84th year. Loving husband and best friend of Florence for 58 years. Cherished father of Janice Wells, the late Paul, Kelly MacGillivary-Collins and Nick (Dana Beechey). Beloved grandfather of Sarah, Abby, Malcolm, Logan, Liam, Landon and great-grandfather to Mason. Survived by sisters Jean, Christine, Lynda and brother Donald. Predeceased by parents John and Margaret, sister Margaret and brothers Jack and Bill. “My grandpa was unmatchable. He was, and I don’t say this lightly, the only man I’ve known who knew how to treat a woman. My grandma was everything to him. His children and his grandchildren were his world. He was the kindest, gentlest, most loving, selfless, devoted person who put everyone else before himself. Me and my family are not going to be ok for a long time, and I know God will take care of him until we meet again.” Doug will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family service will take place. Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery. (John T. Donohue Funeral Home)
