Sister Theresa Marie Caillouette, CSJ
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada is saddened to announce the death of our beloved Sister Theresa Marie Caillouette in the care centre at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Road in London on December 14, 2020. She was accompanied and supported on the last part of her journey by her Sisters and our attentive care centre staff.
Born Juliette Caillouette on November 7, 1930 in Meacham, Saskatchewan she joined the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph on September 9, 1947. She is remembered with affection by all her CSJ Sisters, as well as her sister-in-law Olive Caillouette, her many nieces and nephews and her special friends, the Pinsonneault family.
Sister Theresa Marie was predeceased by her mother Olga (Loiselle), her father Ernest Caillouette, sister Angeline Rey (Stanley Field) and (Charles Rey), brothers Lionel (Blanche), Roger (Lois), Maurice (Mary), Romeo and Raymond Caillouette.
Sister Theresa Marie assumed a variety of roles throughout her life in ministry. She was a gifted leader and educator, an astute spiritual director and a compassionate hospital chaplain and pastoral minister. She also used her leadership ability within the community as vocation director, in congregational leadership and as a representative on hospital and our CSJ Federation Board.
Regardless of where she lived, in London, Sarnia, Windsor or Edmonton, she reached out with a spirit of compassionate interest. She possessed a warm, endearing manner of keeping in touch with those whose lives she had influenced over the years. She not only remembered and was interested in the individual but also in their family and friends. She enriched many with her ongoing encouragement, spiritual accompaniment and support. Above all, Sister Theresa Marie’s passionate love of God was poured out in self-emptying love for others.
