Gail Anne MacKay (nee Pineau) (January 13, 1953 - December 8, 2020) died peacefully at peopleCare Oakcrossing LTC in London, Ontario, surrounded by her family, in her 68th year. Gail was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend to all. Beloved wife of Sandy for 44 years. Loving mother of Natalie Hleba (Michael), Ian (Lisette) and Lauren Timmers (Matt). Cherished grandmother of Emma, Calvin and William. Dear sister of Elaine, Gary, Linda, Wayne, Cheryl, Bev and Mark. Gail will be missed by her many relatives and friends. Predeceased by her parents Alex and Mary Pineau and her sister Lana of St. Thomas, Ontario. A graduate of St. Joseph’s Nursing School, Gail served as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. Her years of service included St. Joseph’s Hospital, Victorian Order of Nurses and Chelsey Park Retirement Home. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish for over 40 years, serving in various ministries. Gail reached out in numerous ways in the community, generously giving of her time to many charities and sponsoring refugee families. A two-time cancer survivor, Gail lived her life with purpose, passion and grace. She was a model of courage, perseverance and faith. Her smile and infectious laugh will always be with us. The MacKay Family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Oakcrossing LTC for their outstanding compassion and care over the last two years.
Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Sunday, December 13th from 2-2:45 (full), 3-3:45, 4-5, 7-7:45 and from 8-9 o’clock. A visitation will be held at St. Michaels's Parish, 511 Cheapside Street, London, Ontario, on Monday morning December 14th from 9-10 o'clock where the Funeral Mass will be held at 10 o’clock. Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions as per the Bereavement Authority of Ontario a limited number of people are able to attend each visitation and the Mass and therefore, it is required that each person RSVP their attendance.
