Obituary of Art Browne
Francis Arthur (“Art”) Browne passed away at home May 8, 2020 in his 90th year. Former spouse to the late Moira Browne. Beloved father of Suzanne Robinson and Laurie Browne(Cosmo). Cherished grandfather of Eric Robinson. Dear brother in law to Connie Caldwell. Art was the eldest of 4 brothers. Survived by brother Jimmy Browne in England(nephew Tony). Predeceased by the late Richard Browne (Jean) and the late Malcolm Browne (Helen). Sadly missed by nephews Bert Browne(Scott), Marc Browne(Kate) and grandniece Kiana Browne; niece Suzanne Davis(Ronald) and grandnieces Tanya & Christine, grandnephew Brent and great-grandnephew Shane. Fondly remembered by niece Sandra Sampson(Ian) and grandniece Paige; nephew Richard(Tammy) and grandnephews Justin & Tyler; nephew Geoffrey and grandniece Ashley, Alexandra & grandnephew Samuel. Art was born in Bridgetown, Barbados on January 29,1930 to parents Campbell O. Browne & Caroline Benlisa Browne. Art moved to Canada and volunteered to fight in the Korean War. He initially settled in London, Ontario and then moved the family to St Thomas in 1974 to start his business at a coffee shop Mac’s smoke shop on Talbot Street where regular customers would remember Art’s jokes, boisterous laugh and horse racing deliberations. Art lived his last 38 years in London, Ontario. Art was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed ballroom dancing and playing bridge at the senior centre. He loved to travel to Cuba and visit family in Barbados. He liked to keep busy and worked for Sunningdale golf course in his retirement years. Art enjoyed his freedom and independence and was a regular customer at Scores restaurant & Marino’s in London. The family would like to thank Dr. Armagon for his care over the years, Veterans Affairs, Nathan Durand Physiotherapist at CBI for keeping Art’s knee in shape, and all the staff at Scores and Marino’s for being like a second family to Art. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Veterans Affairs Canada.
