Obituary of Gerard Francis Waller

Waller, Gerard (Gerry)

Peacefully at Mount Hope Long Term Care, London, Gerry passed away in his 87th year. He is survived and will be  dearly missed by his sibling Therese (predeceased by his sister Nora and her spouse Stan, as well as his brother-in-law Giles). He leaves behind ten nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Leona and Duncan.

Gerry grew up in Mimico, where he would take the streetcar into Toronto to work his very first job as a button delivery boy on Spadina Avenue. Later in London, he worked at a local brewery, through the local association for Community Living. Gerry had a generous spirit, and in his later years, enjoyed playing an important role at Mount Hope as an ambassador welcoming new residents.

Gerry lived life to the fullest, right up to the end, cheering on his beloved Blue Jays on a very recent annual outing to Toronto. He was a well-known character about the town of London, noted for his love of sports, food, old movies, and all types of music- he was a talented dancer with great rhythm. Gerry was a sociable man, always ready with a tale to tell.

Gerry deeply appreciated his time with family and friends and always had exciting plans in the works. Gerry enjoyed life and lived it on his own terms. We will miss him.The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Alice Saddy Association, his personal support team (especially Lisa), and the many patient and caring staff at Mount Hope.
